The hotel is housed in a nondescript, seven-story brown stucco building constructed in 2000. The property’s lobby is an anachronistic mix of carved wood wall- and ceiling-panels and confetti epoxy flooring, illuminated by an oddly formal crystal chandelier. There is a selection of imitation 18th-century paintings in gilded frames hanging amongst the few stuffed chairs scattered throughout the common areas. Guests here tend towards a slightly older crowd who enjoy the somewhat traditional vibe. 

The hotel sits a few blocks to the east of the main train station in the city, Hauptbahnhof, a walk of about 10 minutes. There are plenty of cafes and restaurants around the property, though the neighborhood lacks the Gothic charm of Marienplatz, which sits a 20-minute walk away. It's about a 25-minute train ride to the Oktoberfest fair grounds from Munchen Hbf station a few minutes' walk away. Those wishing to travel to and from the airport on public transport can catch a train at Hauptabahnhof Nord that leads directly to the terminals in 45 minutes, requiring no transfers. 

A certain historic charm in these rooms is lent by the most striking feature: four-post carved wooden beds with ornate, gold-accented canopies. Loud floral curtains and matching bed skirts look a little fussy. Otherwise the rooms are fairly plain with white walls; some are on the small side, even extremely so. Each room has adjustable temperature controls, a good number of outlets, a wall-mounted flat-screen TV, an iHome alarm clock with music dock, a safe, and a hairdryer. Bathrooms have tiny stall showers, and some guests have noted caution with the walk-in showers, which have a small metal ledge. 

The hotel has few amenities: a small lobby bar continues the decorative theme of ornate fixtures with brass bar stools in gothic style. There is a pleasant outdoor garden patio for sitting and having breakfast or a drink. The buffet breakfast (for a fee) includes an extensive spread of cereal and granola bars, eggs and sausages, fruits, pastries and bread, and cheese and cold cuts. A tiny business center adjacent to the lobby offers an Internet-connected computer and a printer for guest use. Wi-Fi is free throughout.
