The bland brown marble-and-concrete exterior of the King's Hotel First Class belies its Old World interiors -- passing through the hotel's doors feels a bit like stepping back in time, thanks to the lobby that's done entirely in French Walnut paneling and marble. It's decorated with oil paintings housed in gilded frames. Guests are greeted by a staff that's eager to please positioned behind a solid wood front desk illuminated by a large crystal chandelier, while a small bar with leather stools sits off to the side. Corridors leading to guest rooms are wood-panel free, though traditional art work in gold frames and brass light sconces with illuminated room numbers continue the old-timey look. 

The King's Hotel is centrally located in Munich’s popular Maxvorstadt district, a five-minute walk from the city's central train station. From there, visitors can take the subway, the S-Bahn, trams, and buses to all parts of the city. Munich Messe and Munich’s airport are both easily reached in about 45 minutes by public transport. The hotel is within a 10-minute walk to the Stachus and Karlsplatz, the start of Munich’s famous shopping mile that runs over to Marienplatz. The museum district with Munich’s major museums and neoclassical monuments is about a 15-minute walk or a 10-minute tram ride.

The hotel's 86 rooms can accommodate just about any combination of travelers: Single Tooms are ideal for those traveling solo, Twin Rooms work well for friends, Double Rooms for couples, and suites are family-friendly thanks to separate living areas with pull-out sofas or baby cots upon request. All rooms feature dark carpeting and white walls decorated with gilt-framed pastoral paintings or portraits of austere noble men and women. Rooms also feature show-stopping wood canopy beds, writing desks, large wood wardrobes, flat-screen TVs, coffeemakers, safes, minibars, and free Wi-Fi. White marble bathrooms are a departure from the old-fashioned feel, with decidedly modern stainless steel fixtures, small showers, hairdryers, heated towel racks, and the hotel's own line of bath products. 

A doorway off the lobby leads to a large dining room with plenty of tables and high-backed wooden chairs where an American-style breakfast buffet is served each morning (for a fee). It includes morning staples like cereal, fresh bread, coffee, and juices, as well as hot dishes like eggs, bacon, and waffles. A small, Finnish-style sauna and relaxation area with music provides a place for guests to unwind after a day exploring the city. In the evening, guests can grab a drink at the small bar located in the lobby and settle in at the hotel's Chimney Lounge, a comfortable room off the lobby with well-worn leather wingback chairs and an ornately carved, French Walnut ceiling, as well as a television and a business corner with a computer and printer.
